Hollywood needs some Claritin!

Dear Friends:

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a program that honored AZ's Tuskegee airmen. For four hours, we learned about their accomplishments and the strife that they faced in the segregated Armed Services. I highly encourage you to watch "Red Tails" this weekend. Although it is 2012, racism still permeates the United States. George Lucas, the creator of "Star Wars," tried for over 20 years to make this film. Hollywood would not support him because there was not a Caucasian actor that would be the "star." It is as if Hollywood told him that the film was not 'legit' unless "stamped" by Whiteness.

Will this saga ever end?

No. I have unfortunately accepted this. No matter if we have a black President, marry outside our race, etc. . . , America will continue to cling to the misconception that "White is right."

Please read Roland S. Martin's commentary about "Red Tails":

Here are some photos from yesterday's event.

What are you doing to honor King tomorrow and everyday?

ENOUGH ALREADY!!!

I am beyond sick of reading about Jay-Z and Beyonce's baby, "Princess" Blue Ivy Carter. Indeed, they have the money. Yet, when I think about the excessive cash spent on a birth - - - a birth that was not marked by trauma such as prematurity and birth defects - - - it makes me ill. We have more important things in the U.S. to worry about:

* Education
* Poverty
* Racist pseudo-politicians who deny making derrogatory comments
* Crosses burning in front of interracial couples home in Arizona
* Mexican Studies courses not being offered in Arizona high schools

The list goes on.

America, get your priorities STRAIGHT. Bey and Jay are not thinking about you.
