Sunday Singin' Sensation: NAT KING COLE

Good morning!

Isn't God good? If you have DOUBTS, do know that if you are reading this message, your BEHIND WOKE UP THIS MORNING AND IT WASN'T THE DANG LEAF THAT GOT YOU UP!!!! Give God some GLORY! GLORY! today.

How was your holiday? I had a great time with T and his family. Of course, I am going to share some pics. Somehow, I managed not to get a pic of me enjoying the festivities. The great food and sangria made me pass out for 1.5 hours.

I was crazy enough to venture out on Black Friday. It's a tradition of mine. I LOVE it. I purchased one gift. My goal is to have everything ret (i.e. "ready," and you know where I got that word from, therefore, HUSH) to be shipped by December 10th. Please keep me in your prayers. Indeed, it is HARD to shop for your parents when they have EVERYTHANG. Before you say, "How about jewelry?," y'all forget what the folks do for a living. I'm trying to be creative this year with my gift giving. By this, I am implying that I am trying hard not to purchase the "predictable."

Yesterday, I had the PLEASURE of spending the afternoon with this lovely family. My photographer friend (another Miz A), asked me to take some pics of her family for the holidays. I thought that they turned out rather cute. Miz A. was extremely pleased. Here are some of the better ones. I HATE how Blogger "swishes" my pics and makes them look crazy:

These photos were taken @ Ashley Manor (Chandler, AZ). My GOD, that place is GORGEOUS inside. We couldn't take pics inside the actual Manor due to a wedding. Indeed, that was one LUCKY bride. I'll have to remember that venue. Oh, snap, that's right, I would have to ask someone to marry me first.

Moving right along . . . today's SSS is none other than NAT KING COLE! How can you celebrate Christmas w/out hearing "The Christmas Song" at least FIFTEEN TIMES during the holiday season. "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. . . Jack Frost nipping @ your nose. . ."

My grandmother LOVES Nat King Cole. She thinks that Natalie cannot sing worth a damn. Indeed, dementia is setting in. . .

Please share your Turkey Day photos!!!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!!!!

I am thankful for:

* The love that I have for Jesus Christ, and most importantly, His UNCONDITIONAL love for ME
* My parents, brother, and grandmother
* My late paternal grandparents' legacy
* Beautiful friends
* Decent co-workers who come and pick me up when T and I are stranded @ Starbucks due to a dead car BATTRIE (i.e. battery) and had less than FIFTEEN minutes before the final bell rang (even though this co-worker CUSSED ME OUT)
* designer handbags
* Canon 40 D SLRS
* the poor because they remind me of the simple things in life
* my #1 favorite book, THE BIBLE
* the smell of sweet potatoes in my kitchen this morning
* my CAREER and INCOME
* perfume. I am lovin' Versace's Bright Crystals
* the ability to properly tithe and not worry about writing the check
* my students (even though they drive me INSANE and confuse me with a Catholic priest). I am thankful that this year, they feel comfortable enough to confide in me to the point that I have to kick them OUT so that I can eat my lunch.
* my husband, who I have yet to meet. This lil' voice has been telling me lately that he's coming (thank God, because I have had my share of sheer, incompetent, lacking a true sense of self garbage), and I am so @ PEACE about the situation. I keep having recurring dreams of me having this sweet baby on my hips as well as images of a set of twins in isolettes. You know that it's one or the other because the "bank" will be "closed" after Child #1. I know that I am not a single mom in these dreams. It's crazy.
* YOU

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!!! Now, take plenty of pictures so that you can email a couple of them to me for my scrapbook. Adrienne and Christina, whip those cameras out. ;) Angie, take some sweet pics of Miss Chloe. Sarah = enjoy your 1st Thanksgiving with your family. Please email a photo of the baby to me. Y'all know these photos are going into my SCRAPBOOK. Don't let me have to ask twice. ;)

:Hugs:

* SLEEP DEPRIVED
* WISHING THAT I WAS 3 YEARS OLD AND COULD CURL UP IN MY LATE GRANDMOTHER'S LAP
* GLAD THAT MY APT. SMELLS LIKE SWEET POTATO PIE
* GLAD THAT I ONLY HAVE 2 MORE DAYS OF WORK

Happy Monday, PEEPS!!!

Sunday Singin' Sensation: ROBIN THICKE!!!

Howdy y'all!!

I hope that you had a restful weekend. Did y'all give GOD some Glory Glory today? ;)

Y'all know I feel about the LEAF.

Today's SSS is none other than ROBIN THICKE. If you don't know who he is, SHAME ON YOU. He's my baby's daddy. Good LAWD, I love this man. Aside from his downright sexiness, he can SANG. You know who his daddy is - Alan Thicke ("Growing Pains" aka the creator of the "Diff'rent Strokes" theme song). If you don't have Robin's new album, please GET IT. Oh, how I would love to dance to "Sidestep" with this man. He does justice to this song as R. Kelly does to "Step in the Name of Love." Paula Patton - indeed, you are one lucky woman.

Here's the latest w/me:

* I attract some crazy-ass folks. On Friday, I was in Tuscon for my gig's regional football game. I HATE Tuscon. Do you hear me? I HATE it. It's nothing but a glorified Mesa, and Mesa wins hands down. How in the H can you be a college town and not have any decent restuarants. My colleague, T., gave Tuscon the finger as we left. We hit Texas Roadhouse @ 10:25pm. Mind you, they closed @ 11pm. We were STARVED.
* Some crazy woman asked me (in Espanol) if I wanted to buy her baby. MIND YOU, she only had the stroller with her. WTF?!?!?
* On Sat., while purchasing some books @ Borders, a chick came up to me with this "I embrace my greatness (I think that's what it said) pin and started talking to me. She was at ASU for a religious conference. Then, she led me in this 10 minute prayer. She asked me what I wanted her to pray for - I said that God sends me a man that is worthy of me. I almost cried in the damn bookstore in front of a woman that I DID NOT KNOW.
* The Library has awesome drinks!!!
* ASU has the hands-down worst Homecoming celebration known to mankind
* I look so much better with waxed eyebrows

Sigh

Miz Christina tagged me. Here are 7 things about moi:

1. I am a child of GOD.
2. I love my family even though they are NUTS.
3. I know that God has a man out there that is worthy of me. I just haven't met him yet.
4. I love to SHOP!!! I am a designer handbag FREAK.
5. I love vintage ephemera, especially ephemera that is Dick and Jane related
6. My favorite resturant is The Ritz Carlton's Main Dining Room (Downtown Chicago).
7. Aside from teaching, photography is my passion. I wish that I could change careers, but hell, I barely have the one that I have.

If you haven't read The Shack, GET IT. After I finish reading this great book which deals with God as a BLACK WOMAN, I am going to read Sista Souljah's Midnight; my girl is BACK.

I now tag:

* Adrienne
* Sarah
* Angie
* Patrice
* And, whomever wants to participate!!!

Enjoy the photos!

WORD and PEACE!

Sunday Singin' Sensation: KOOL AND THE GANG!!!

Good morning!

I:

Woke up this mornin' with my mind
Stayed on Jesus
I woke up this mornin' with my mind
Stayed on Jesus
I woke up this mornin' with mind
Stayed on Jesus
Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelujiah

There's nothing like a spiritual hymnal to get your Sunday this morning. I hope that you woke up this AM with the Lord on your mind (y'all know about that LEAF)!!!!

How are you? I hope that your weekend was relaxing. I spent yesterday @ a wonderful altered book class. I left feeling INSPIRED to CREATE.

Today's Sunday Singin' Sensation is none other than KOOL and the GANG! Who can forget "Celebration". It was played at every birthday party, wedding, BBQ, etc. . . during the early to late 1980s. JT - you were one cool Jheri curl sportin' man. Let's not forget "Ladies Night;" "Joanna." I am still waiting for someone to say, "C., you're the one; the one for me. . . "

If you don't know who Kool and the Gang are, EDUCATE YOURSELF!!!

Now, let me tell y'all about my time on the bus last night. This story is FOR REALS. I am not fabricating a dang thing about it:

* I'm @ Alma School when this man boards screaming that he is a victim of domestic violence. His woman MESSED HIM UP - black eye, scratches and welts all over his face.
* I am sitting there thinking, "PLEASE let me hit College and University so that I can get away from these freaks" when we are blocked by the POLEESES. A sista officer board the bus looking for the battered man. Of COURSE, he didn't speak up and she had to radio the description in. The next thing I know, fool leaves off the bus with the officer.

Next situation:

* Two men contemplate if they should pool their $$$ together for "food, brew, or bud."

GOTTA LUV IT. Hmm, I wonder which one out - my $$$ is on the bud.

They were going to church this AM to get a food basket so that they could give it to the people whose home they were crashing at.

Last situation:

* Stupid driver was going to put an old man off for not having TWENTY FIVE CENTS to finish paying his fare. We CLOWNED that driver so badly. Everyone started reaching into their pocket for $$$.

What's wrong with people???

Folks, get off the FLO. If you're laughing that hard, email this link to someone.

SORRY, CINDY!

Dear Cindy McCain:

I am sorry that you did not wake up with a smile on your face this AM. Your dreams of decorating the living quarters of the White House have been permanently shattered. You will not be able to store your hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of clothes and jewelry in the White House.

You can now add a new pen to your $5000 suits - AMERICA SPOKE!!!

YES WE DID!!!!!

Cordially (and I say that with a wink),

Dr. C.

To God be the Absolute Glory! For many of my bloggers, you may not understand why this election was so important. Let me break it down for you:

* This election was for my forefathers who were beaten/raped over greed
* It was for my grandfather who, at the age of 8, had to quit school and pick cotton to support his 11 brothers and sister
* It was for my people who were hung from trees, burned, raped, and killed just because they wanted to be equally seen.
* It was for Carole, Cynthia, Addie May, and Denise, who lost their lives of bullshit in 1963.
* It was for me - a little black girl who racist white teachers informed her that she set her dreams to high
* It was for my parents who have had to deal with bullshit for over 40 years at work
* It was for my grandmother who worked her entire life and struggled for many of hose years.

Yes, this election was about race. You cannot argue that. It was also about women:

* Our rights to our bodies are intact
* Our rights to SPEAK are intact
* Our rights to move up in America are intact.

AMERICA, WE HAVE SPOKEN. I have tears streaming down my face as I type this message. I never thought that I would witness this dream in my lifetime. I thought that my childrenw oudl see this, but not me. I still cannot believe that Barack Obama won. I jumped out of bed this morning just to check to see that this wasn't a dram.

Bush, get to PACKIN'. Sarah Palin, RETIRE. McCain, check into an old folks crib.

AMERICA, THANK YOU FOR VOTING!!!

GOD IS LOVE

Sunday Singin' Sensation: MS DIANA ROSS

Good morning to YOU.

That's right - I am AWAKE. I took a nap, and now I am wide awake and feeling as if I am Vivarin.

GOD, I need to be delivered from my current state by a handsome prince who is FILTHY RICH. Then, I wouldn't be up burnin' the midnight oil. Check this out - this fine-ass bruh was in Mimi's Cafe today. He was with some woman, and I happened to look up. He turned around and gave me the biggest-ass smile.

Greedy ass, ain't-worth-a-plug-nickel. Before you even say it, YES that could have been his sister, and you know what, you need to get off the pipe ASAP.

;)

Aiight,I am a day late, and you might as well say a dollar short with the Sunday Singin' Sensation. I had to search my "mental vault" for this week's tribute. It goes to the #1 diva(Beyonce, please take note), wearing weave down to her booty, Diana Ross (Now, that Ms. Ross to you). She taught us how to reflect on where "our love" for man can go to; how to "climb" every mountaintop to get to the man that is meant for us (Hell, I am *still* learnin' that one); and taught us about the ugly side of heroin ("Lady Sings the Blues: The Billie Holliday Story").

If you don't know who MS. ROSS is, go check your behind into Bellevue.

I went and saw "The Changeling." Angelina Jolie makes me SIK; that heffa is simply beautiful. It's a great film, but the movie could have ended 30 minutes sooner.

I had to OH SNAP on this man at the AMC Theater. I didn't bump into him; we nearly bumped into each other at the same time, and he said rather rudely, "Pardon me."

REGULATE.

Did y'all give my God some PPPPPPPPPPRAISE on Sunday?! ;)

Remember folks, get on your hands and knees for the next 48 hours and PRAY.

Look in the mirror and MAKE THAT CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, who was I - none other than Sexy Witch. I came home and created:

What do y'all think? Sarah, Angie, and Adrienne, I ain't as good as you divas, but I tried. ;)
