Boys will be BOYS!

Nice shot, if I say so myself. ;)

My personal favorite

Today, Rhonda stopped by with the boys en route to swim lessons. Now, which one is the "ham" to you? ;)

If Maxwell is scheduled to visit your city, GO! Mr. A. and I had a BLAST. We started out ath the Sheraton Hotel's bar (cosmo time) and then headed to the Dodge Theatre.

Call me psychic, because the person from work that I knew that we would see (who I like) was there. LOL.

Pure sexiness simply permeated out of Maxwell's body. If you enjoyed him on the BET Awards, then you would have LOVED him last night! Mr. A. was so glad that we attended.

Today

Folks:

Today, a colleague called and invited me to lunch with her step-daughter. Becca met me last year, and she insisted on seeing ME prior to returning home; she lives out of state. I was honored. This child can SING. The tree was a perfect "prop" for the impromptu photo session. Which photo is your favorite? I am lovin' the one of Miss B. in the tree.

Michael news is everywhere; if I turn CNN, his death headlines. AOL has "breaking news" every 2 minutes or so. Apparently, Michael had lupus. I read that lupus can come on if a child was sexually abused; emotionally and/or physically beaten. It's just SAD. I read that the kids had a major meltdown today. He's the only parent that they've known.

Sigh.

What's for Dinner?

And YES, I penciled in the image on the "What's For Dinner?" title! I *had* to make her look like me. ;)

Happy weekend!

Mike - - - RIP

Dear Readers:

Truly, I am at a loss for words (which y'all KNOW does not happen OFTEN). I cannot even bring myself to find a pic of Mike and include it in this posting. There are certain people that I will always know where I was when something happened - - - watching the CBS when it was announced that Marvin Gaye was killed; just finishing an episode of "The Guiding Light" when Magic announced that he was HIV positive; en route to purchase my prom dress when the Rodney King verdict was announced, and the list goes on.

Today, I was in the theater when Mom emailed and informed me that Michael had passed away; I thought it was a joke, like when folks said that Whitney Houston was dead. Michael is indeed dead. I feel for his family; I mourn with his children.

I will never forget my brother's fanaticism with Mike. He even told his Sunday School teacher that Mike died on the cross and saved him of his sins. I will remember watching him do the Moondance for the 1st time on the Motown tribute show.

Sigh.

Mike, you are so missed. It still has not completely hit me yet. The stars are in shock. Everyone from Lisa Marie Pressley to Madonna are in tears.

Regardless of his wrongs, his fans still loved him.

Mike, you are finally at peace; you no longer have to run from your pain.

RIP.

Crown me the Queen of Scrap

At least in my scrapbook room. ;) I did this layout a few weeks back; I just developed the photo today. Every scrapper should have one of these types of LOs in a shadowbox in her scrapbook room. This is were I placed my LO. It's in a shadowbox on my scrapbook island.

I HAVE to share this post with you today. I LOVE what this baby said about Jesus:

Layouts

I've been meaning to post these, but finally got around to taking pictures. I've actually submitted some of these for possible publication.

Your Hands

On Saturday, I met with a photographer acquaintance of mine. He took this great pictures of my hands and said, "You have beautiful hands; you could be a hands model." That prompted me to think of what exactly my hands say about me:
* These are the hands that were shaken when I was baptized; these hands also have held God's Word in them.
* In these hands, I have held some sweet, tiny babies.
* I have cried in these hands more times that I care to remember.
* These hands have cleaned many of dishes, baseboards, sinks, bathrooms, etc. . .
* I have held a pen in my hands and have written some beautiful words - - - words that have led to me earning the hand, Dr.
* I have cooked many of meals for loved ones.
* My hands have touched those that I love.
* My hands have some great looking well-manicured nails. There's nothing like pink and whites in the summertime.
What do your hands represent?

Father's Day: Ghetto Style with Cee and Mr. A.

Mr. A. after dinner
My Dessert

Me Striking a Pose

"Father and Daughter" after dinner.

Greetings!

Happy Father's Day to your loved ones.

Today, Mr. A. and I had dinner @ Roy's. SWEET LORD, the food was good. It was a three course meal. I selected the ribs for my appetizer; macadamia nut crust mahi mahi with potatoes and asparagus. For dessert, I had banana cake with ice cream and fresh fruit; Mr. A. had a sald with shrimp. blackened salmon and eggs, with home fries; carrot cake with fresh fruit.

We are still stuffed.

Across the Valley, many fine restuarants were giving out $20-$25 gift cards for your next visit. Of course, Mr. A. and I were going to jump on THAT. THe other day, the following dialogue occurred:
Me: Mr. A., we're going out on Sunday, and you're going to be my father for the day.
Mr. A.: Say WHAT?
Me: If we go out to eat at the following restuarants, we get a gift card for our next visit? Game?
Mr.A.: HELL YEAH!
If I say so myself, I LOVE this dress. Prior to leaving the restuarant, a woman stopped and informed me that it was the prettiest dress that she had seen in a long time. I thought that the dress was classic as soon as I saw it. It reminded me of something that Lena Horne or Dorothy Dandridge would wear. The only thing that was missing was a flower in my hair.
I just finished watching "Hawthorne, RN." on Tivo. What ndo you think about the show?
For this week's Sunday Singin' Sensation, I am taking you back to the SOS Band.
ENJOY!

Mr. A. and Cee: A Dialogue Series

Good morning!

I thought that I would create a new series: The Mr. A. and Cee Dialogue Series. We engage in so much discourse (and I post about it all the time). Therefore, why not feature it?

This is totally a WTFism. Yesterday, I opted to go to bed REALLY early, because I was literally brain-dead. I got into bed and called Mr. A. We were talking about random things when he told me that he had to take another call, and he would call me back. He proceeded to call me in about 15 minutes. That's when the following conversation occurred:

Mr. A. : Remember that parking ticket that I got due to that damn camera?
Me: The one on X road, with me in the car?
Mr. A.: Yeah. Well, those folks called me just now for Traffic Court.
Me: Oh, so, when is your class?
Mr. A.: Let me tell you about this one. They called me in f****** Spanish.
Me: WHAT?!?!?!?
Mr. A.: They asked me if I could attend the Spanish class and if I knew Spanish. I said, "Yeah, and yes, I know some Spanish because I teach a lot of Mexican kids who are straight out of Mexico.
Me: ON THE BED ROLLING LIKE A DERANGED IDIOT!!!!!
Me: YOU SAID WHAT?!?!?!?!? You told this woman that you spoke Spanish?! WHY?!
Mr. A. : They ain't tyin' up my Saturday with no class way out in BFNW. That's why I am going to the Spanish class. They had a White woman doing all the talking to see if I spoke the language. When I said yes, they put a Mexican woman on the phone who started asking me questions in Spanish. She would say, "Deet da deet da deet da deet," and pause. That's when I knew that she was waiting for me to say, "Si," and that's exactly what I did for each question.
Me: YOU ARE CRAZY!!!!!!!!!
Mr.A.: What have I told you about putting me in your category?
Me: SHET UP! When is your class?
Mr. A.: Coming up.
Me: So, for 5 hours you are going to sit in this class in Espanol?
Mr. A.: Si.
Me: You do know that this is going on the blog.
Mr. A.: I know that you are putting this on your blob (note: This is his pronunciation of the word).
Me: God, you are hilarious.
Mr. A.: No, I just don't have any time to waste.

I need to return to journaling. I need to go out, purchase a pretty journal, and GO. I know that I have the gift of writing; however, writing is laborious for me. I associate it w/work (due to my profession). I write enough during the work day.

Happy Saturday!

Things that make you go HMMM. . . .FRIDAY

TGIF, FOLKS! Then again, since I am off from work, EVERY DAY seems like a weekend. ;)

Here's my list of Things that make ME go HMMM. . .

* People in AZ claim that prisonners' civil liberties are being taken away from them in prison. HELLO - most of these individuals either raped a child or killed someone. They deserve to rot.
* My hanging plants are finally starting to bloom!
* I find ignorant people wherever I go.
* Juneteenth celebrations are going on. We've come a long way, baby!
* My nerves need to CHILL so that I can truly fall into a deep sleep.
* I type entirely too fast.
* America's fascination with Jon and Kate. Can they please go sit their behinds somewhere and get off the NEWS?!

WORD.

Enjoy your weekend!!!

FEATURED BLOGS

Folks:

Today's featured blogs are:

http://tessaann.blogspot.com/ (Let her BEDAZZLE you with her buttons)
http://angieinpink.blogspot.com (This woman will melt your anger down to a pool of nothingness with her sweet, calm spirit). Check out the post RE: her daughter. I LOVE it.

Okay, folks, I declare that I am trying to complete this certification. Another class will be done in a few days; I simply need to take the final exam. I just completed the last homework assignment for it. I sent an email (like I did last summer) asking folks if they wanted to study/exchange study guides. Some CLOWN put me on blast. Do you know that some of the students did a Reply All and put his behind on BLAST for BLASTING me?! They commended me for my commitment to this program and trying to do well/help others.

And, these are teachers of YOUR children, local residents?

DELIVER ME!

SWEET LORD.

Yesterday, I ventured to the mall for a hot 45 minutes. Mr. A. and I engaged in the following discourse. Note: I usually always have my Bluetooth ear piece in my ear. Mr. A. calls me, "Janet." I have told him, "That's Ms. Jackson to you, and I am always in CONTROL." Did I take y'all back to 1986, and make you want to pull out a black pantsuit and DANCE?

Here's the dialogue:

Mr. A.: Where are you?
Me: @ the mall, man. I told you that as I stood in line @ the Food Court. I will only be here for a few minutes.
Mr. A.: Please. You know that your 1st stop is to take your ass to Borders.
Me: SHET UP. It's Barnes and Nobles, and I need to see if my magazines are now available.
Mr. A.: Yeah, read up on some gossip. You could open up your own version of a TMZ website.
Me: GO directly to HELL, Mr. A.
Mr. A.: I'll travel any place that you'll be.
Me: You know that I'll be there singing "Go Tell It On the Mountain."
Mr. A.: You've got that right.
Me: You make me SIK.
Mr. A.: You know that I love you.
Me: Ditto

He's one of my dearest friends, but I do want to choke him most of the time.

Thanks for ALL the kind words!

Love y'all!

Quit LAUGHING, folks!

The Blog World

HOWDY this MONDAY MORNING!!!!

Recently, I had a conversation with a fellow blogger. We were discussing some issues that bloggers have faced. It made me think of the other conversations that I have had with avid bloggers. Some of the comments that I have heard are:

* commenting on other people's blogs, but they never seem to take the time to respond to comments that you left on theirs
* not feeling "popular" because you have 0 comments after multiple days of posting
* seeing that you faithfully respond to people who you thought "liked you," but they will respond to everyone else's posts that day (on their acquaintance's blogs), but didn't *dare* to comment on yours.
* CRAZY FOLKS who you thought were your "friend," but is not (Note: I am still trying to understand how this one works because oftentimes, these "friends" are people that you have YET to meet!!!!! Friendships do happen in blogworld, but come on, getting angry with a stranger is ludachrist.)
* Some people put TOO much of their/kids/spouse's BIZNESS on their blogs. Then again, it is their blog, and their is such a thing as Freedom of SPEECH.
* Folks are extremely envious
* People only respond to your posts after they see that you have commented a couple of days on theirs (Note: Are we in high school?)

Here are my two cents (for what they are worth):

*Blog because you LOVE to express yourself through writing; art; photography, etc. .. . We are not here to win a popularity contest. The last time that I checked, none/most of us are not receiving any royalties for publishing our daily thoughts.
*Who cares if someone does not respond to you? Your words may have been what was needed to touch that person's heart on that particular day.
* If your so-called "friend" ignores your blog, move right along with your day.
*If you are going to the Internet in search of friends/love/support, you need some DEEP love in your life. Seek this from God first prior to going to the Internet and attempting to find it from a complete STRANGER.
* RE: the envious, it is extremely sad to be envious of the blessings that God has bestowed on others - whether it is a spouse; children; better talents than others (i.e. cooking; scrapbooking; quilting; gardening, photographing; you get the point). If you are going to be jealous of someone on the WEB, might I suggest getting yourself right prior to spending countless hours on the computer.

Whew!

Have a wonderful start to your work week! ;)

Sunday Singin' Sensation: PATTI LABELLE!!!

Dear Readers:

Give God some PRAISE today! Enuf about the leaf.

I am BACK w/SSS! I was running out of folks to consider, until I heard Luther's voice yesterday on Mr. A.'s truck radio. I said, "Bingo! Tomorrow's SSS is none other than Patti LaBelle!!!" Who cannot help but love Patti? The woman can SANG and COOK. Her hits - "Voulez-Vous Couchez Avec Moi, Ce Soir;" "I'm On My Own;" "If Only You Knew," and her rendition of "Somewhere, Over the Rainbow," are just CLASSIC!!!!!

If you don't know who Patti is, you seriously need the LORD.

I am on a black/white or black/white/red rooster kick with my kitchen. I picked up these lovely ceramic roosters yesterday. I wanted to purchase the entire collection, but even with 50% off, these things are still pricey. Why the roosters? I got the idea from when my sign was created. My aim is to now find cannisters, etc. . . to match. If you know of a store that sells any of these items, please let me know! I got these from Hobby Lobby.

The kitchen needed some "color" aside from white; light oak; and stainless steel.

Thanks for the comments RE: the Jheri Curl. I had folks cracking up on the phone about that post. Mr. A. read it and said that I was CRAZY. We were in hysterics @ lunch yesterday. I took him waaaay back.

Love y'all!

Flashback Saturday: The Jheri Curl

Stoney Jackson sportin' the Jheri Curl Mullet

Good morning!

Yesterday, I really needed a good laugh. I had some house maintenance issues going on that had me LIVID, amongst other things.

Where did I go for my laugh? Mr. A. When I am extremely exhausted, I get rather loopy. EVERYTHING makes me laugh. Things that normally would not have me laughing have me in hysterics. For some strange reason, I was thinking of Jheri Curls. I had those old "Carefree Curl" commercials - the ones that used to air during "Soul Train" - in my head. Y'all remember the slogan - "Get tuff! Get tuff enuf!" Carefree Curl's activator was the key to that. I won't know CC; the activator cream has done the best to bringing out my natural curl pattern. I just stopped using it about close to a year ago since I went this short. NOTE: I DO NOT HAVE A CURL. I just used the cream.

I called Mr. A., and I said, "Did you ever have a curl?" Now, you know that he cussed me out because he sensed that I was asking him that question for the sheer hell of it. The first thing that he said was, "Have you been drinking?" I replied, "Absolutely not. It is a dry house here." The conversation proceeded as followed:

ME: Did you have a curl?

HIM: HELL NO. I didn't even date women who sported a curl back in the day. When those sh**s first came out, I only had two sets of sheets, and you know how hard it is to wash that mess out of your clothes?

ME: By this point, I am hysterical, but I continue to ask the questions.

HIM: Back in the day, try going to the club, and someone accidentally hits your glasses with one of those flyaway curls. You'lll spend the rest of the night trying to get that mess off of your lens.

ME: I am all over the bed at this point

HIM: Are you there?

ME: Do you know anyone that still wears a curl?

HIM: Hell yeah.

ME: Do you know anyone that wears them at home (his home state)?

HIM: YES. This person couldn't even grow hair (you know the curl will grow your hair), and I'll be damn if he didn't have hair down his back.

ME: Do you know any choir directors who wore a hand towel around their neck to protect their robe from the curl?

HIM: YES!

ME: You know that I asked you these questions on purpose so that I could get a laugh.

HIM: You know that I know that your crazy ass did this intentionally.

ME: I love you for it! Thank you!

Enjoy your Saturday!

Black in America

Good morning!

I don't know how many of you followed the "Black in America" series last summer. Well, it's back. I wanted to share the following article with you from cnn.com:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/06/10/shapiro.wealth/index.html

It is RE: the gap between blacks and whites' incomes in the United States. Given our current recession, I thought that this would be an interesting article for you to read.

Speaking of race relations, I would like for everyone to take a moment and pray for the family of the slain Holocaust Museum security guard. Secondly, pray for the 88 year old white supremacist who killed him. I cannot imagine living eight decades of my life in sheer ignorance, and have the nerve to perceive this as a 'blissful' existence. America, slavery and the Holocaust did actually occur; Barack Obama is sleeping his fine-self in the same bedrooms as the Caucasian Presidents before him. America is CHANGING. The murderer claims that Obama was "created by the Jews":

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/06/11/museum.shooting.suspect.two/index.html

Pure MADNESS. I have to give the man credit for creativity. Obama being created by the Jews - - - that's a new one to me. I wonder what Mel Gibson would say. . .

America is speaking, supremacists; it is time that you listen and end the hate crimes.

Enjoy your weekend!

THE SIMPLE THINGS THAT MAKE ME GO ;)

Good morning!

Today, I am participating with Miz Christina (www.soulaperture.blogspot.com) in her discussion of the simple things in life. Here they are:

* Walking around the neighborhood park and seeing two sisters running with glee to the swings
* Seeing a baby sip from his sippee cup on a hot, summer evening
* The color green
* The smile that emerges on my manicurist's face when I tell her, "Great job!"
* The beauty that emerges onto my camera's LCD screen after I press the button.
* A good cup of hazelnut coffee, especially on a rainy morning
* A delicious chocolate chip cookie or piece of homemade pound cake
* Any Marie Callendar pie
* Mr. A. knocking on my door for an outing; I know that I am in for a treat
* Greeting a church member
* A good bargain
*Hearing my grandmother's excitement that I am at the other end of the phone
* The following couple. They were married recently at the age of 90 plus:

Happy Hump Day!

June 9, 2005

Dear Readers:

Four years ago today, I moved to Phoenix, AZ. I was scared, but yet so excited. I was ecstatic about starting a new chapter in my life - - -a place where no one knew many, any of my baggage, etc. . .

In four years, I have:

* Had several JOBS (those that just paid the bills)
* Met some wonderful people
* Had ups and downs
* Found a CAREER
* Started to release some baggage
* Began to GROW
* Continued to strengthen my relationship with God
* Became a better tither
* Slowly realized that it was somewhat okay to be single
* Fell in love with photography
* Purchased a HOME
* Set and accomplished some goals

My goals for this year are to:

* Continue to grow in my career
* Completely let go the past. I cannot change it or the people that caused the past to develop
* Quit being so hard. I've been hurt so much, and I use my hardness to protect myself from further pain. I know that I do this; I just didn't realize how obvious it was until friends started asking on a routine basis what happened to me.
* Save better than what I do; daily, I say a small prayer over my home before walking out the door. I practically bless my A/C unit each day.
* Quit letting mess affect me
* Ignore envious individuals
* Do more things around my home

Peace

Thank you

Dear Readers:

Thank you for the kind emails and comments that you have posted since yesterday. Truly, I thank you for taking the time to do so.

I have taken some time to assess things. I need peace in my life. I first can obtain this by gaining peace with myself. This is the key. As Mr. A. tells me all the time, peace start within. I can only allow situations to bother me simply doing that - allowing them to destroy my day.

It is safe for me to share this link. I did not have to seek anyone's approval, and I guarantee you, that it will not go poof! and disappear less than an hour after it was posted. That will never happen again.

I am a blog-surfing harlot. I will admit that. I was so touched by the Stephanie Nielsen tragedy last year (www. nieniesdialogues.blogspot.com). Stephanie and her husband were severely burned in plane crash. Stephanie is now back at home.

While reading her sister's blog, www.cjanerun.com, I came across this link:

http://www.komonews.com/home/video/28703094.html?video=pop&t=a

When you have a low day, think of the peacefulness found in this young mother. She went in for an emergency C-section, and came out with an amputated legs, an arm, and blind. I would have cracked UP. She courageously possesses a peaceful spirit. I don't know how she does it.

Peace.

On a POSITIVE note

Dear Readers:

Happy Monday. On a POSITIVE note, I am pleased to share something with you - - -more layouts. I don't think that I will be asked to take this post down. I finished my book on Friday. I simply need to journal. I used Cosmo Cricket's Happy Camper paper (I LOVE CC paper!):

Retired Creative Memories album that I snagged dirt cheap a year ago. I started not to purchse it; however, I said that it was vintage and would eventually be used.

Title: Are We There Yet? This pic was taken on the way to Jerome.

Pictures of Jerome, AZ
More Jerome pics/layouts
Motorcycle Mama/Pictures of Sedona, AZ

More pictures of Sedona, AZ and Campe Verde, AZ (Montezuma Castle;Well)

There you have it! Once again, we had a blast. Ang., I truly thought of you as I created this album. ;)

Peace.
