Damn blogger for eating up my entry yesterday evening. I wanted to tell y'all about my latest experience at WENDY'S. On Tuesday, I walked in there for a value meal. I was HONGRY, and I knew that I was going to burn the calories off on the Elliptical machine (great machine for the booty and hips). WELL, I must have been lookin' good in my BCBG outfit (of course, discounted at ROSS) because "Bruh Man" aka "Fry Boy" put his fingers up to symbolize the phone and said, "Can I call you?" Now, y'all know this is what I get for tellin' my chirren last year that unless they get their s*** together, they were going to end up working @ Wendy's. Could you imagine me telling them that my man worked at Wendy's?
Deliver me.
Are y'all ready for Halloween? The altered book just needs some more photos. I'll get them tomorrow @ the g-i-g. I am actually dressing up. Can you BELIEVE that? I am going as "Sexy Witch." My costume is purple, and I have a matching hat. I haven't dressed up in eons. I hope that I can pull it off.
The Hudson family - y'all continue to keep them in your prayers. I do not know Jennifer or Julia, but my heart bleeds for them. My family oftentimes challenges my walk with Christ, but I cannot imagine them being taken away from me in the manner that Mrs. Hudson, Jason, and Julian were taken from Jennifer and Julia. I am praying that God is granting them solace during their time of bereavement.
Satan, I give you the finger.
Folks, MAKE THE CHANGE. Take your booties to the polls and VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are already predicting some MESS with the machines.
God, please set your Israelites free (Can y'all tell that I was a former Bible Bowl champ)? ;)

SIMPLY EXHAUSTED
Oh, yes indeed I IS. Good LAWD, I am tired, friends. I'm so busy that I barely see myself.
LAWD.
How y'all be? I'll return to Sunday Singin' Sensation next week. EVERYONE, please keep the Hudson family in your prayers. I am grieving with this family. This could have been my mother/brother/child. I cannot imagine walking in on my relatives' corpses. It pains me to know that Jennifer had to not only identify the bodies of her mom and brother, but also her nephew, Julian. Oh, what Julia must be experiencing right now. I am a non-parent, but damnit, I can feel just a small fraction of her pain.
This has been so heavy on my soul. There are so many sick people in this world. Daily, I thank the Lord for allowing me to see another day.
Speaking of death - the Obama assasination plan - - - what century do we live in?
If you aren't a praying person, please bow your head and meditate to the damn leaf. Our country is in turmoil, and as a country, we all need to simultaneously bow our heads for a word of prayer/meditation.
Tonight, I teach "Crash." I am looking forward to the conversations that arise from this screening.
If you haven't been in touch with your folks for awhile, pick up the phone, call them, and say, I LOVE YOU. Hell, there's no guarantee that you will have that opportunity tomorrow.
WORD.

Sunday Singin' Sensation: STEPHANIE MILLS!!!
Howdy!
I had a BUZY weekend! I hope that you enjoyed yours and was able to get out the HOUSE. On Saturday, about 20 of my Seniors met me at The Arizona Center to see "The Secret Life of Bees." We had a blast. Three students brought one of their siblings. I could tell that a significant # of these students do not get out very often. They were elated to do something that was "kid-oriented." I normally don't see many of my students smile; everyone left the theater with cheesy grins. It was nice to see them acting as "kids" rather than "mini-adults" who have their parents' burdens on their young shoulders.
Later that afternoon, T. and I hit Hooters for some lovely sangria. We had 2 pitchers. I told that fool not to order the 2nd one. Did he listen - NOOOOOO!!!! We attended our dept. chair's Halloween party. I made the following altered book for her. Adrienne, do you recall that Maya Road album that you sent me nearly 2 years ago? GIIIIIRL, I finally got around to painting/decorating it. Thanks again! ;)
This was my hostess gift:

Yesterday - church. Did y'all give MY JESUS some PRRRRRRRRAISE?! The guest minister truly struck a nerve yesterday - There are too many adults coming to church and treating it as a "preschool" rather than the "workshop" that it is. Folks, if you've been in the Word for over 4 years, and you see church as "Hang out Central," it's time that you change.
Word.
This week's SS: STEPHANIE MILLS! If you don't know who she is, SHAME ON YOU!!!! Who can think of 1980 without "Never Knew Love Like This Before?" Who can think of "The Wiz" without thinking of Stephanie (the Broadway production becuz you know that MIZ Diana ROSS HAD to star in the movie version)?
If you don't know who she is, go to Wikipedia. I ain't even giving you the link this week. You can also check out this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrvQrYi7mGU
Indeed, she is the "little girl with the big voice."
KUDOS TO MIZ SARAH AND BRAD ON THE BIRTH OF SAWYER!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hugs:
AIIIIIIIIIIGHT, folks, I got my early ballot. Can I get a WITNESS?!?!?! VOTE '08 folks. Women- VOTE. Christians - VOTE. Atheists - VOTE. Everyone - VOTE.
General Colin Powell (who should have ran for President 20 years ago), THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today, I share with you the following:
...as hard as it is to accept a black president, it's even harder to accept a
black first lady. First Lady has always held a beloved sentimental mother/wife
of the nation symbolism. Conservatives are not ready to have to look at this
very BLACK woman with her degrees and her fierceness and see her as the
epitome of the American mother/wife.
This will be a first for white people. They do not want this black woman in the
White house as their first lady. That New Yorker cartoon was [actually] about
Michelle - she was its focal point...look closely... She is the leader, the one
starting the 'revolution' they want you to imagine....
MSNBC's Chris Matthews said, in the course of covering the Obama candidacy,
'He (Barack Obama) brings none of the ' bad stuff, you know?' By 'Bad Stuff',
he meant the legacy of [whites] enslaving Africans in this country, keeping
them as second-class citizens until 1965, a mere 11 years before this country
celebrated its 200th anniversary. You know, 'the original sin', or ' the birth
defect', as Condi Rice called it. Barack escapes this 'bad stuff' only because
his mother was white and may have had ancestors involved in the slave trade; and
also because Barack's father was not African American. He was full blooded
African and therefore Barack had no ancestors enslaved by America - and so the
white guilt factor is missing when they think of him. HOWEVER, NO SUCH LUCK WITH MICHELLE!
Michelle Obama is a direct threat and lightening bolt against White
Superiority. Because, she's Black. VISIBLY BLACK. But it's important to note,
she does not, in any way, shape, or form , contour to the acceptable Black
Pathologies that enable White Supremacy to sigh with relief. [welfare mother,
fatherless child, druggie, etc.] Michelle was raised in a neighborhood. In a
home. With TWO parents. No child revolving in and out of jail.
Raised by a Black man who not only provided for his family, but did so, WITH A
DISABILITY. Her mother had a working class job - secretary- but it was taken
ONLY after she had seen her youngest child settle into HIGH SCHOOL.
Michelle Obama's poise, her confidence, her aura - that was created by that
humble Black man, who by all accounts, adored her. He told her that she is
worthy, and so, when you have that told to you by the first man who loves and
protects you, you seek that validation of that in your choice of mate, you'll
settle for nothing less, and Michelle hasn't.
Michelle Obama, doesn't fit any of the acceptable Black pathologies. And ! when you don't fit the acceptable Black pathologies, then you must be destroyed.
Michelle Obama has become the face of the Black America whose existence is
routinely denied by this country. Think about it.
In ONE generation, the face of this 'Invisible America ' has gone from living on
the top floor of a bungalow, to the possibility of living in T he White House.
And yet, Michelle Obama, refuses to say ' I'm special', in order to give white
America its usual security blanket [that she is one of the exceptions rather
than the rule], So what should be done?
Beat her down into submission.
Michelle Obama represents everything we black women want our daughters to be.
When we stand up for her we stand up for ourselves. No other women in the world
are more neglected and abused as African women period. Michelle looks like [our]
daughters, her daughters look like us. We love the way Barack looks at her we
adore the way he looks at his daughters. The Obamas represent the hope that we
can be loved by our men and they will support us in whatever we do. Little
African American girls need a vision and dream of what it is like to be loved by a man who looks just like them.
Is America ready for a First Lady who looks like her? A regular black woman? Not
a passable biracial curly haired girl that they call black, but a regular black
woman from the south side of Chicago ? With dark skin?
Is she going to be the face of The Woman on the largest pedestal in the country?
A self-confessed 'loud-mouth' black woman? If the Obamas succeed, it turns white
supremacy upside down. And not because a black man is in the White House; but,
because a black woman will be there who didn't have to come in the back door to
lie in bed with the president.

MAKE THAT CHANGE
Good evening!
I hope that your week is going well. It's hard to believe that tomorrow is THURSDAY. This week is flying by. Friday please hurry the heck up and COME.
Miz Christina has devoted the past two days discussing poverty. It is such a reality for all of us. Many of us are only a paycheck away from standing in line and collecting "the stamps" and govt. cheese. It's heartwrenching when you have educated people driving for Toyota who were once potential Nobel Prize recipients (read today's news). It is also dismaying when you have students who cannot attend field trips because their parents do not have FIVE DOLLARS to spare. In our society, $5 can't get you jack, but for some families, $5 can purchase a case of Ramen noodles, Spaghettios and some packets of Koolaid; that constitutes dinner for a couple of nights.
And to think, Madonna is worth over FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS? Indeed, she works hard, but what can be said about this?
Education was once the key to leaving poverty behind and living "happily ever after." Now, education will still have your ass broke.
Who is to blame? Who really cares about America's poor? Who is willing to be the beacon of hope that the poor need?
Watch tonight's debate. Tonight, my students and I will be watching this monumental event. Have you read Roger Ebert's commentary regarding McCain's mistreatment towards Obama last week? If not, read it.
I hope that America's poor is watching tonight. Then again, many of these individuals are the ones who elected BUSH and are determined to elect MCCAIN.

My Weekend Review
HEY!
I hope that you had a FABU weekend. Due to this picture-heavy email and the fact that I IS TI'ED, there is no Singin'Sensation this weekend. I'll make up for it next Sunday.
I have a question for you - Are you using the talents that the Lord has bestowed on you? Are you too dang humble to admit that you are talented in certain areas, and you are using "issuhs" (y'all know WHO I got this word from) from the past to convince you that you/your talents aren't jack? Are you mad @ God/folks, and you have stopped using your talents? Folks, USE the talents that the LAWD has bestowed on you before He TAKES them away. That's my message for this Sunday.
I had a WONDERFUL time in Christopher Creek, AZ. Folks, I haven't experienced Fall like that since I was in Sedona/back in central Indiana. I was FRRRRREEEZING!!!!!!! I went from 95 degree weather to nights as low as 32 degrees. Heat from a pellet stove never felt so good. Our hostess was FABULOUS!!! I felt as if I were a star in a Lifetime movie (minus the crazy-ass murder stalking a group of womenfolk). I got a LOT of scrapbooking done. I completed about 18 + scrapbooking pages as well as an 8x8 altered chipboard Halloween book. I'll post those pics tomorrow. I am diggin' altered books right now. It turned out really cute. Our hostess was FABULOUS! She has GOT to learn how to start using paper plates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are the photos. They look better as a slideshow. Blogger just kills the damn things. I only had camera shake in about a handful of photos. Mind you, I took over 300. Blogger makes these things look like booty. Let me know which ones are your favorite :

It's a FRIDAY and the Weekend is HERE!!!!!!
I ain't Zhane, but LORDY, the weekend is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then again, it's been the weekend for me for the past SEVEN days (I know, SHADDUP BIIIIIIIIIIITCH)!!!!!!!!!!!
What are your weekend plans?
Miz Sarah, indeed, this is YOUR weekend!!!!!! ;) GET READY, GIIRL. For those who don't know, Miz Sarah is due any day now.
HEY, this pic made me think of the following - if you've got a sibling, CALL them; if you are an only chile, CALL a friend who is like a sister or brother. So often, life and drama cause us to forget how much we love our fellow brothers/sisters:
This sweet little girl has the heart of gold. While @ her crib, she asked me to play dollies iwt her. She goes upstairs and returns with 3 white Barbies, and she hands me a black baby doll. I almost cried. Such sweet innocence. Thankfully, her parents are teaching her well.
This weekend, I will be attending a scrapbooking retreat in Christopher Creek, AZ. Y'all KNOW that I am up this early washing clothes/packing.
Enjoy your weekend!

Photo Shoot
Good morning!
Yesterday, I had a blast. My friend, Miz A., a professional photographer, was kind enough to allow me to tag along w/her on a photo shoot. She was the same individual who allowed me to shadow her at a wedding. I'll toot my own horn and say that I most definitely like these pics better than the ones from the wedding. I'll allow you to be the judge:

Folks - I want Adobe Photoshop CS 3. If you know anyone who can help me get it cheaper than it's SEVEN HUN'ED (another Granddad W.C. word), please let me know. These pics were edited in Lightroom. Both are absolutely WONDERFUL software programs. I have Photoshop Elements 6.0
Alright, Miz Adrienne, it's time to share some of your wedding photography. ;)
Today - dentist and an early showing of "The Secret Life of Bees." If you haven't read the book, PLEASE do so! It is absolutely WONDERFUL! I am currently teaching it to my Honor Students. In fact, I am going to teach it to my regular Seniors because they absolutely hate The Joy Luck Club. I want them to excel, and I do feel that they will be able to relate to Monk's novel.
Now, let me discuss the Obama-Mc Cain debate. Mc Cain, you out of touch Pillsbury doughboy, - Black folks are no longer driving gold Cadillacs. Heck, do you think that Michelle Obama's name is Florida Evans and she's serving her girls, Penny #1 and Penny #2 oatmeal each morning?
DY-NO-MITE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would someone please place this man out of his misery (as well as ours)? A dear colleague invited me over for dinner (Coq Coq Vin - WONDERFUL), and we watched it. He made me SIK.
We have less than a month to change history. DO SO.
PEACE.

It's another magic MONDAY!

but, at LEAST I am spending this Monday at the CRIB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK THE LAWD for Fall Break!!!!! Indeed, there are some perks to teaching school. I am only awake this early because I am waiting for the cable guy to bring me a new box for my television. I was ret to watch some TV on Wednesday (my day off last week), and the box was dead. Of course, the sista on the phone this AM told me that the man was arriving btwn. 8-5pm. I hate that ****.
My dear friend, Miz Christina, shared this wonderful blogging award with me. I felt touched. Indeed, I wish that she lived in AZ!!!
This morning, I select:
Miz Sarah (click to the right) - Her blog always makes me want to EAT. In addition, it makes me hopeful that one day soon, I will be awaiting the birth of my baby. Then again, doesn't that take a husband and sex? I'm working on that. . .
Miz Christina (click to the right) - I look forward each day to seeing her beautiful photography/Hallmark-esque words.
Miz Angie (click to the right) - She is just about the sweetest person that I met. Her scrapbooking layouts are so simple, classic, and beautiful. I love Angie because she has such a positive outlook towards life. Nothing/no one has made her cynical. Damn grad school for how it corrupted me. I used to be so much like Angie.
Miz Patrice - This chick is a RIOT. Her website is: www.pajnstl.blogspot.com If you think that I am SIK, read Patrice's blog. What that chick says about folks on the STAMPS is INSANE!!!
Miz Keisha- I periodically check out her blog for inspiration. This scrapbooking diva is a maestra when it comes to creating beautiful projects to reflect the love that she has for nature, her family/friends, herself. www.abiteast.typepad.com
Friends, I thank each of you for reading my blog. I started this blog nearly 5 months ago, and I was never expecting so many visitors!!! For those who usually read my blog, but do not comment, I invite you to share with me where you're from, and what's been your favorite post on my blog.
LOVE y'all!

Sunday Singin' Sensation: JOHNNY MATHIS AND DENIECE WILLIAMS
Good evening!
I hope that each of you have fully enjoyed your weekend. What did you do?
This week's SSS focuses on two of the best duets of our time - Johnny Mathis and Denice Williams. As a kid, my daddy used to THINK that he was Johnny Mathis; he tried to sing church solos as if Mathis was standing @ the mike on Sunday morning. LAWD. My dad had every Johnny Mathis 8 track known to man (if you don't know what an 8 track is, research it. I ain't helping you out this week). I was HOOKED on Johnny when I heard him sing, "Too Much Too Little Too Late" with Deniece Williams ("Let's Hear It for the Boys"). Their voices could melt butter. Who could watch an episode of "Family Ties" and not be mesmerized by their voices singing the theme song. Johnny is too busy on the damn golf course to record much; Denice is sangin' Gospel now. I wish that both of them would come together and sing one more duet for ole' times sake. Johnny and Deniece, it AIN'T too late to TRY again and SANG another great hit!!!

Did y'all give God some Glory! Glory! today? ;) Y'all know how I feel about the LEAF.
I got some scrapbooking done. It feels good to finally sit down and play. I still have some school-related work to complete over break, but I can honestly say that I am SO happy to sit here tonight and create lesson plans, grade papers, etc. . . Today, I went to Ritz to pick up some pics. Of the batch, this is my favorite. I luv this little redhead although she can't stand me. It's amazing that I was able to get this picture of her. This child was on the g-o, and she had NO patience to deal with me. I am SUCH a sucker for a redheaded child.

I went and saw the new Diane Lane/Richard Gere movie. GOD, how I love that man. CT and I went last night. If you haven't seen it, GO.
Folks, we are less than a month from the biggest election of all time. Start praying. Our nation needs to pray and fast right now.

THANK YOU!!!!!
Dear Fellow Bloggers:
THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes/kind words. It meant SO much to me! I had an absolutely wonderful birthday. On Tuesday, I shared a birthday cake w/my Senior Honors students. They were SURPRISED. Last year, Mom said that it was my ministry to be @ this particular high school; I believe that she is right. There used to be a time when NO one wanted to enter my room; now, I have to complete my work during my prep time because between 7:30-7:55am, my classroom is a revolving door.
That evening, I went to Fleming's Steakhouse and Wine Bar. If you haven't eaten there, GO!!!!!! The food was WONDERFUL, and the service was impeccable. A blast from my past ended up joining me for dinner. I was in shock. He had just got off of a 12 hour shift, was dragging, but something must have told him to go anyway.
I received beautiful gifts and cards from my family and friends. Truly, I am loved.
I AM OFFICIALLY ON FALL BREAK!!!!! I have an ENTIRE week off from the g-i-g. A former student said to me, "Dr. C., make sure that you practice safe sex over break." I told my colleague (who was driving), "GET ME AWAY FROM THIS BOY BEFORE I LOSE MY JOB." Yesterday, I went to the local scrapbooking store for my page kits (Thanks ANGIE!!!). Last night, I was too tired to do anything; however, I am up now and I am RET to PLAY. I want to see the new Richard Gere/Diane Lane film. I'm not into older men, but Richard Gere and Darnell Williams (Jesse from "All My Children,") COULD possibly change my mind.
On Monday, a man whose brothers I grew up with/our mothers were close friends, passed away. Kevin was 42 years old. He was a heart transplant patient. Please keep his family in your prayers. He left behind a wife and children.
I leave you with a question: What are you grateful for?
