Rain, Rain, please cool this desert OFF!!!

Good morning!

I thought that I would blog prior to jumping into the shower for another hectic day. LUCKILY, it's WEDNESDAY. I have 2 more days of work, and then I am off for a 3 day weekend.

It's still HOT here. The rain has only made it humid.

Indeed, God is LOVE. Tonight, I return to the local university to teach another class. I am so thankful to return there. The budget cuts are bad, and there's guarantee that I will return in the Spring. For those readers who attend college, I do hope that your academic year is off to a positive start.

Ms. A., will you be carrying a backpack in the near future. Of course, you'll probably purchase one to match every outfit. ;)

The rumors are out that my advanced students think that I am "crazy" (but in a good way). Yesterday, my writing prompt for their bell work was: "It has been brought to my attention that many of you contend that I am crazy. Please explain. :) " I said, "If you are going to talk about me, be man or woman enough to say it to my FACE." I was so touched by the responses that I received from them.

On to other stuff, I am SO thankful to God for the gift of discernment. I can see through people a if their father was a glass maker. I cannot stand individuals who use others to stroke their ego. Recently, I've been dealing with this, and it makes me chuckle how these simpletons operate. Then again, they are cut from the same damn pattern - Simplicity. Then, they have the audacity to have this air of, "See, I didn't do anything. It's HER or THEM."

Deliver me. Have you ever dealt with individuals who are so SICK in the head, but try and come off as if they are generous, kind-hearted individuals? I say this all the time, "People need to leave children of God ALONE and keep on moving."

Toodles! ;) That's a major SHOUT OUT to Adrienne!

PS: STILL NO HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Sunday Singin' Sensation #11: JAMES INGRAM!!!

Howdy!

Can you BUUULEIVE it? I've posted twice now in less than 24 hours. WOO HOO!!!! I am going to try and get back to "normal." Aiight, are you going to give God (don't start that mess with the LEAF) some PPPPPPPRAISE today? I would like to share this poem with you:

BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER

by Maya Angelou

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ

that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''

I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,

My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..

I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,

I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Pretty is as Pretty does... but beautiful is just plain beautiful!

Maya is a living Hallmark card. I've got to give her the KUDOS that she most definitely deserves.

This week's SS is none other than the FOINE-ass James Ingram. I've loved this man since 1980 when he released "Just Once." Then, I continued to be mesmerized with his music/face with "Baby Come to Me" (duet with she is SO skinny now Patti Austin) and "The Secret Garden." Recently, his "Forever I'll Be" became THE wedding song of the year. I am so GHETTO that I keep KYOT (Jazz station) playing on my CD player at the g-i-g ALL day (quietly). I've learned that it helps mellow my students. When James Ingram is on, the volume goes UP. If you don't know who James Ingram is, EDUCATE YOURSELF, PULLLLLLLLLEZE!!! :

Barack has selected his running mate. What do y'all think about his choice? Will Michelle become the black Jackie O? She sure does remind me of her somewhat.

Yesterday, I hung out with my boy, CT. We hit the Dillards sale as well as lunch @ The Cheesecake Factory, TARJAY, Ritz Camera, and Old Navy. Next weekend, - SanTan Village. I luv that man. He cracks me UP. Indeed, he's a shopping ho just like myself.

Menfolks wear my damn nerves. At times, I feel that my husband is right around the corner, but other days, I'm like NOPE.

Happy Sunday!!!!

THE DEAD HAS RISEN

Good morning to YOU!!!

Indeed, the dead has risen. I have been SWAMPED with work. Things are only going to start piling up more so now that classes resume on Monday at the local university. I am excited to return to the University classroom. WOO HOO!!!

So much has been going on . . . my students are keeping me on my toes. Yesterday, one said, "Dr. C., you enjoy teaching?" I informed her that I did. Her response, "I can tell because you always be so hyper and jumpin' around the room and everythang. It's just too early in the mornin' for all of that." Mind you, the child said all of this with a Southern accent. Then, she proceeded to complain about the heat. I reminded her that she was from the South. The child said, "This heat will KILL you. I am dark, but I even have a SUNBURN." By that point, I was jumping around so that you would think that I was doing the Holy Dance. She's SIK. LOL.

The other night, we had Open House. It was so nice to see the large turnout of parents who came to meet their children's teachers. I took some nice photos of my students and their parents; I look forward to posting them in my classroom.

Last weekend, I saw D.L. Hughley. He was off the chain. We didn't leave until 1am. Let me tell y'all how small the world IS. Have you ever been somewhere where you felt that someone saw you, but you didn't see them? WELL, a blast from the past saw me with my friend, and he acted "stupidfied." I get a text saying, "Lovely dress." I said, "Which dress?" His response, "The one on your body." I replied, "Were you at the Improv?" Response, "Yes. Is that your boyfriend."

My response, "No response." Fool. That clown stood me up for the Katt Williams concert. I ended up w/one of my girlfriends, and he had the nerve to act like Barbara Walters?

Moving right along. . . D.L. was crazy. I actually got to shake his hand/give him a hug. He managed to still hold it together considering that he attended Bernie Mac's funeral that morning. Bernie - you are so missed.

I am so TIRED. Last night, all I recall doing was taking a bath and crashing before 8pm. This hot weather has got to come to an end.

How y'all be? What's going on? I look forward to hearing about YOU.

Sunday Singin' Sensation #9 and #10: Michael Jackson and Isaac Hayes

Greetings:

Did y'all give God some PRAISE today?!?!?!!? He's been GOOD to me.

Alright, it's SSS time. This week is dedicated to Michael JACKSON and the late, Isaac Hayes.

It was a matter of time before I had to give our boy, Mike, some praise. I have loved this man since "ROCK WITH YOU." Y'all got to remember that "ABC" was before my time. He had me hooked on the 1983 Motown 30 year anniversary special. When that man did the moonwalk, he indeed, had a fan for life. Mike gets a bad rap; most of that he brought upon himself. I am so disappointed that my boy has fallen. PATRICE, you had me ROLLIN' on your blog about taking a picture of Michael in grade school. Patrice thought that she was going to meet THE Michael Jackson @ school. WHY did her teacher break her heart and inform her that she was only going to take a picture of a PICTURE with Mike?!?!?!

Here's the link:

Mike, please rediscover your identity. It ain't too damn late. Find the man in the mirror, Child. MAKE THAT CHANGE.

Isaac Hayes - - - my Shaft, RIP. The man died while trying to exercise. Hell, you'll die if you don't get in shape, and you'll die if you do.

Lift his family up in PRAYER.

I had a GREAT weekend. On Friday, CT and I hit Va Bene's, where we engaged in some spirits. Some Cosmopolitans were just what the doctor ordered. Thanks CT for introducing me to Passion SKYY. I am hooked for life.

Yesterday, I tutored my girl at B&N. I so love working with gifted children. That child will go so far in life. Last night, Frank and I hit Tempe Marketplace. I had another Cosmo and then, we saw "Hancock." I luv spending time with Frank. Speaking with him is the highlight of my day.

Today, I went and gave God some PRAISE and my tithes. If you don't tithe, you need to get serious about it. Give God what is rightfully HIS. Otherwise, you are cutting short your blessings. Afterwards, I went and saw "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, 2." That child, Leo, is fooooooooine. LAWD. It's such a great movie. If you haven't read the series, please do so.

WORD.

Co-teaching is gonna be a DELIGHT

Hey!

Y'all know how much I miss my former team-teacher. My classroom feels somewhat empty without KC there. WELL, it looks as if I might have the opportunity to team-teach again. To the right is one of my new co-workers. CT is a RIOT. If y'all think that I am SIK, you should meet him. CT is exactly what I need. He would be a great asset to my classroom. I hope that everything goes through. Whenever he stops by, he has me on the FLOOR. Of course, I had to take his photo (and yes, that bulletin board is FILLED with pictures); he happily obliged.

Folks - - - pray that I do not end up dead. I took a damn Swiffer handle and beat the hell out of my ceiling with it. My dumb-ass ALL hell neighbor proceeds to jump up and down. OH HELLS NO SHE DID NOT!!!!!!!!! Then, she comes downstairs and knocks on my door. Note: Since I do not want to end up DEAD and see my momma and daddy in jail for manslaughter, I didn't answer the door.

I ain't CRAZY.

And, no, I don't have a house YET. The fools refused my offer.

Nite.

I'm back at the G-I-G!

GOOD MORNING TO Y'ALL!!!!!

I hate that I missed Sunday's Singin' Sensation. I was busy that morning house hunting, and that afternoon, Frank and I hit Scottsdale Fashion Center. Therefore, blame him for me coming home tired from shopping. ;) I'll make up for it next Sunday. Get ready NOW!

My students' first day of school was yesterday. Aside from some child making a reference about a student's breasts, the day went smoothly. I am going to SO love my Senior Honors students. One young woman looked mesmerized. I do not know if it was because of my usage of "super English," or the fact that she was captivated by what I said (which I seriously doubt). It's going to be a fun year with them. I have a lot planned, and I hope that are receptive to my ideas.

One of my Freshmen took this photo. I must admit something - - - I love this dress. This is the most dressed up that I've been in the past three months. I'm back being "girly-girl," and I love it.

My Freshmen - - - so far, good. It's hard to believe that TWENTY YEARS AGO, I was a Freshmen in high school. Where has time gone?!?!

I am trying to have a drama-free year. I know what I have to do, and I have already started doing so.

Last night, I came home and PASSED OUT. I do not know if it was exhaustion or this freaking HEAT plaguing Arizona. Enough already.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you want to scream, "DO YOU THINK THAT I AM STOOOPID?!" What is WRONG with people? Seriously, psychiatrists should stand on street corners with platters of Xanax, Lithium, and Wellbutrin and pass out samples. People are CRAZY.

Off to get ready to educate the "children of our future."

As Adrienne would say, "TOODLES"! ;)

119

Good morning!

That is the # that I saw on the local community college's marquee yesterday afternoon. Both my colleague and I both yelled "S**t" as we passed by the school. That's just TOO dang hot.

It is hard to believe that today is Saturday. This week has been such a blur. My friend, Michael, left and is now in North Carolina with his family. I thought that I would share some photos with you:

It is still hard to believe that 12 years have gone by. I met Michael on my first day of graduate school in August, 1996. I wouldn't have made it through my program from HELL without him. I will always remember Michael informing Dr. W. that since he was majoring in African American literature, "Why in the HELL do I have to study Old English?!" LOL. I do hope that I see Michael sooner than 10 years from now.

I am going to try and enjoy these last two days of my weekend. It's going to be a long haul from now until Labor Day. I am SO excited about teaching the representatives from the Classes of 2009 and 2012. For some reason, God has ordered my steps to help these children transition to high school and college. I patiently wait to see what He has in store for me. Lord, THANK YOU for this rich opportunity. At first, it appears daunting, but I KNOW that you are going to guide me along this journey.

It's been awhile since I've had a WTF moment. FOLKS, it is HOT here and folks are getting FONKIER by the minute. Yesterday, a man so STANKED where I was yesterday afternoon that when the employee saw me enter, he cracked up laughing. I said, "That is straight up FONK. Where is your air freshner?" He handed me some Glade Popourri. Hell, I needed industry strength Lysol. I almost passed the hell out. Indeed, this hot weather has got to BREAK.

What are your weekend plans?
